Noordenveld – Netherlands

The act of Partnership was signed: 12.05.1995 r

The first contacts between our communes were established on the basis of the help that the Dutch people provided to the inhabitants of Ceradz Kościelny in the 1980s. Their pioneers from the Polish side were father Zygmunt Humerczyk and head of the village – Maria Skorupska. As cooperation and mutual contacts were strengthened, the partnership agreement was concluded on May 12, 1995 in Tarnowo Podgórne, signed by Commune Head – Waldy Dzikowski and Mayor Elisabeth Tuijnman. After the administrative changes, the continuation to build mutual contacts was sealed by the agreement of June 3, 2005.

The biggest testimony to international cooperation are the mutual visits of groups of Norg and Ceradz Kościelny residents, associated in the Polish-Dutch Society. In addition, a large group of athletes and musicians from our Commune participated in a sport and cultural meeting in 2008 in Noordenveld. The delegation from Noordenveld is always invited to the annual celebration of the Tarnowo Podgórne Commune Days.

Noordenveld is a rural commune in the north-western part of the Dutch province of Drenthe. The main town of the commune is Roden, which is the economic centre. The advantage of this commune is the beautiful landscape, where streams, forests, snowdrifts, heaths, polders and green villages dominate.

The Dutch commune is a paradise for cycling tourism. Above all, it is worth spending time in the natural area of De Onlanden – where meandering paths lead along meadows, streams and swamps, showing the beauty and richness of fauna and flora. More demanding cyclists are invited to cycle routes in the Norg forests. And for those who love walking, we recommend winding streets, alongside farms and impressive estates, leading to the characteristic rural squares in Roden and Norg.

The town of Veenhuizen is an interesting tourist attraction, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list – it used to be a penal colony, today it is a quiet testimony to the unique history of this place.
